House of Grace up close
Our identity
At House of Grace, we've always believed that everyone represents added value. This belief has been with us from the very beginning, in our quest to offer a better life to children and young people who have been orphaned, abandoned, or in difficulty.
It all began in 2018, in Parombo, a small village in Uganda's West Nile region, one of the country's poorest regions. Data shows that approximately 76% of the population lives in extreme poverty, 35% are illiterate, and healthcare conditions are precarious. The few functioning hospitals are often too far from the villages to be reached, and healthcare workers are insufficient to ensure efficient service.

Difficulties, tragedies, and misfortunes often lead young mothers and parents to abandon their children, who thus join the many who remain orphaned in the early years of life.
Sister Beatrice, originally from a Ugandan village and living in Italy for over 15 years, decided to try to improve the lives of at least some of these children, giving them the affection and love that everyone deserves.
She thus began with a few children, found on the streets, without parents, hosting them in a hut in Parombo, entrusting them to the care of some local women, while, in the meantime, looking for better accommodation.
After three weeks, she managed to find a larger house with a beautiful outdoor garden, perfect for growing legumes, tubers, and vegetables and planting fruit trees, in Nebbi, a village a few kilometers away from Parombo.
Over time, the number of children has increased to 16, aged between 5 and 19, both boys and girls. Each has a terrible story behind them—some of violence, some of abandonment, some of tragedy—but all are linked by a thread of pain and loss.

The void of family absence was filled by Sister Beatrice and House of Grace; in the group that was created, the children found affection, care, protection, and joy. At House of Grace, thanks to the efforts of Sister Beatrice, constantly traveling between Italy and Uganda, as well as the volunteers who founded the association with her in Italy, and above all thanks to the contributions of all our donors, they found salvation. A second beginning.
House of Grace, thanks to donations and long-distance adoptions, provides them with education, food, medical care and every other need, from clothing to entertainment.
Over the years, House of Grace has continued to evolve, continually seeking to improve, in every little way, the lives of children.
There is still much work to be done, as are the difficulties encountered daily.
Our goal is first to build a fence to provide protection and security from animals and thieves, and to renovate the outdoor space to prevent frequent flooding, thus safeguarding the crops. We would then like to complete the renovation of the current house, renovating the windows and frames, and adding a pantry, essential for maintaining and preserving food. Furthermore, our project also includes the construction of a second home, or alternatively, an additional wing to the existing house, to provide greater privacy and space for each of the resident children.
At House of Grace, we don't want to limit ourselves to the bare minimum; we believe everyone deserves the best. And it's the best we want to strive for, with you and thanks to you.
